About Us
Pact Kenya is a Kenyan non-governmental organization. It was registered in 2001 and over the course of its history it has grown from a handful of people to over 50. Pact Kenya’s head office is in Nairobi and has two field offices in Mombasa and Mandera. As a Kenyan NGO, Pact Kenya boasts of skilled local staff who provide an in-depth and realistic analysis of the challenges CSOs face in Kenya and come up with homegrown solution.
Pact Kenya’s passion for development is driven by its belief that poverty is not the lack of resources or gainful livelihood, but rather, is the inability to determine one's destiny. Where that ability is present, resources and livelihoods will ensue. Pact Kenya, therefore, empowers communities through supporting and strengthening the capacity and capability of individuals and organisations so they can attain the assets, ability, and opportunities to effectively achieve their individual or collective developmental goals.
As a Capacity building organization, Pact Kenya supports other local organisations to become more able to deliver their development objectives and serve the people they are trying to help. It does this through grant making, organisational development and other capacity building interventions. Thus Pact Kenya adopts a ‘network mindset’ or partnership mindset which offers it a highly leveraged approach to achieving social change or sustainable development.
Pact Kenya has been contributing to addressing various changes and challenges through providing support to individuals, communities and their Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). We sought to improve the management and programming skills of ordinary people and their groups in order to deliver better services to the people of Kenya.
Pact Kenya believes that as people and CSOs develop and deliver better services, some of the many challenges facing Kenya can be addressed locally and through this process these organisations will become stronger and more professional and therefore more sustainable. Homegrown solutions are better as they are grounded on realities and are therefore more long lasting.
